Job Description

Job Title: Cyber Security Specialist

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Bristol - Hybrid

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to lead the collaboration with international government organisations and industry partners to co-develop and implement cyber security strategies and capabilities to protect critical information systems and services from cyber threats.

Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.

Rolls-Royce is teaming up with IHI Corporation and Avio Aero to power the future of air combat through the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). Effective and trusted Cyber Security is an essential component of this pioneering international collaboration to deliver a next-generation power and propulsion system - driving innovation at every stage.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security for Future Combat, you will be responsible for providing direction on cyber requirements during national and international engagements to ensure the Rolls-Royce business is able to achieve agreed government standards, and work with stakeholders and partners to proactively resolve cyber security challenges.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing

With this important position you will get a chance to:

  • Enable programme success by ensuring compliance with relevant cyber security regulations, standards, and policies, including those related to classified information and data protection.
  • Develop your cyber career, staying abreast of emerging cyber security requirements and evaluating their potential impact on systems, services and the programme.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including military branches, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and international partners to define the approach to cyber security for the future and mitigate cyber security risks to GCAP systems, ensuring a proactive approach to threat management.

Who we’re looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form the behaviours that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • The ability to understand the complex cyber security challenges and requirements of the systems supporting our Future Combat business.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of Defence Industry cyber security regulations and standards.
  • The ability to travel internationally to coordinate and collaborate cyber security activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

Please note this opportunity requires the successful candidate to be eligible for DV Clearance.
